Baby & Child First Aid

Are you a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or carer of young children?

Do you worry their sense adventure and love of exploring will get them into trouble?

Would you like to know that you could handle an emergency should one occur?

If so, one of these first aid courses is for you. At Moonbeam Therapies and Training, we offer two informal baby and child first aid courses: a short 90-minute introductory course or a longer 3.5-hour workshop. While one is more in-depth than the other, both will give you the skills, knowledge and confidence required to be able to deal with common accidents and illnesses.

Introduction to Baby and Child First Aid

This introduction to baby and child first aid covers the most common accidents and injuries and provides you with the basic skills required to deal with them. The 90-minute session looks at how to deal with:

  • Bumps, cuts and bleeding;
  • Choking for babies under and over one year old;
  • CPR;
  • The recovery position;
  • Head injuries and what to look out for;
  • Getting to the hospital safely; and
  • Anything else that is important to the group.

I like to gear sessions towards the group and their specific needs. Therefore, to ensure you get the most out of your course, I limit groups to 10 people only.

Course locations

Joy Tots on Ferry Road. Once a month, usually on a Monday evening from 7.30 to 9 pm; unsuitable for babies.

Dalkeith – Home venue – Days and times vary depending on demand; babies welcome.

If you can’t make one these sessions or are struggling with childcare, I can bring the course to you, so why not get a few friends around and make a morning/afternoon or evening of it? Contact me for details or to arrange a date.

Course cost

£20 per person. Cost includes a Paediatric First Aid book (and tea/coffee and cake at Joy Tots)
